We want to pave the way for future and current designers to normalize transparent fashion. At Samia Usmani, we strive for honesty with our customers. This includes thoughtfully considering social and environmental factors when sourcing materials, aiming to use them in their entirety, being transparent about our products and pricing, and crafting made-to-order pieces to help reduce waste.

In the ever-evolving world of slow and conscious fashion, our brand is committed to growing right alongside it. We're constantly researching fabrics, production techniques, and the industry itself, and we're happy for you to be a part of the journey.

Why should we care?

The fashion industry is often driven by speed, overproduction, and a lack of transparency. As consumers become more thoughtful about what they buy, we believe brands should be more open about how products are made, what materials are used, and what goes into the final price.

That's the approach we're committed to at Samia Usmani.

what are we doing?

We proudly celebrate South Asian fashion, but oftentimes in our industry, intention behind production is neglected in the face of quick consumption and high margins.

With the next generation of designers and consumers, it is our responsibility to change that narrative.

Although we don't proclaim being ‘sustainable’ since that word has many implications and nuances, we can proudly say that we are a slow fashion, transparent brand.

What that means for us:

  • We carefully source each fabric we use and prioritize natural fibers without compromising on look or quality. As of 2021, our fabrics are 100% polyester free. Each product page has information on materials and care.

  • As of now, everything is produced by the designer by hand and to order.

  • We value pricing transparency. What this means: we charge you for the materials, labor and shipping, with a 20% markup, which is used to invest into the growth and innovation of the brand— that’s it. Each product page gives a detailed overview of what went into the final price.

  • We aim for zero waste of materials. Every fabric scrap is reused or donated.

Each piece is currently handmade, making every creation truly one of a kind. The handmade process might mean slight variations, which are just a part of what makes your piece so special.

We order all materials and make our garments to order to minimize any waste so please allow 4-5 weeks for production and delivery. If you have a rush request or any customizations, please reach out!

We produce garments with the highest quality materials on the market, carefully selected based on their fiber composition, feel and longevity.

As of now, everything is produced by the designer by hand and to order.

We markup our products 20% from the wholesale price (which includes cost of materials and shipping, labor, and hardware) to invest into brand growth and innovation.

Each item gives a detailed overview of what went into the final price. “Materials” includes fabric, shipping and hardware.
